{"id":5519,"date":"2025-07-13T20:06:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T13:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oceansforallfoundation.org\/?p=5519"},"modified":"2025-07-13T20:06:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T13:06:24","slug":"ofa-in-cuba-learning-from-the-caribbeans-coastal-guardians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oceansforallfoundation.org\/en\/ofa-in-cuba-learning-from-the-caribbeans-coastal-guardians\/","title":{"rendered":"OFA in Cuba &#8211; Learning from the Caribbean&#8217;s Coastal Guardians"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">We recently traveled to Cuba to study how local experts manage mangrove ecosystems and marine life within one of the most iconic marine parks in the Caribbean &#8211; The Queen\u2019s Garden (Jardines de la Reina) \ud83d\udc20\ud83c\udf31<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Supported by the CIEC \u2013 Coastal Ecosystems Research Center, this immersive visit took place in a 2,100 km\u00b2 Marine Protected Area established over 30 years ago along Cuba\u2019s southern coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Onsite, OFA worked hand-in-hand with dedicated park protectors, gaining first-hand insight into the management of mangrove forests and seagrass meadows; two critical habitats for ocean health and coastal resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud83c\udf0d We believe there should be no exclusivity in saving the oceans. Conservation must be a shared mission; built on open exchange of knowledge, collaboration, and mutual learning across borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This inspiring collaboration gave us valuable
