We recently traveled to Cuba to study how local experts manage mangrove ecosystems and marine life within one of the most iconic marine parks in the Caribbean – The Queen\u2019s Garden (Jardines de la Reina) \ud83d\udc20\ud83c\udf31<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supported by the CIEC \u2013 Coastal Ecosystems Research Center, this immersive visit took place in a 2,100 km\u00b2 Marine Protected Area established over 30 years ago along Cuba\u2019s southern coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onsite, OFA worked hand-in-hand with dedicated park protectors, gaining first-hand insight into the management of mangrove forests and seagrass meadows; two critical habitats for ocean health and coastal resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf0d We believe there should be no exclusivity in saving the oceans. Conservation must be a shared mission; built on open exchange of knowledge, collaboration, and mutual learning across borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This inspiring collaboration gave us valuable ideas and techniques that we look forward to adapting to our seagrass restoration work in Phuket \ud83c\uddf9\ud83c\udded\ud83d\udc9a<\/p>\n\n\n\n
