OFA just had a blast at Paradise Koh Yao \u0e1e\u0e32\u0e23\u0e32\u0e44\u0e14\u0e0b\u0e4c \u0e40\u0e01\u0e32\u0e30\u0e22\u0e32\u0e27 where we have our sea grass nursery project Team Sea Garden<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge thank you to our partner Paradise KohYao<\/a> and TreeHouse Villas \u0e17\u0e23\u0e35\u0e40\u0e2e\u0e32\u0e2a\u0e4c \u0e27\u0e34\u0e25\u0e25\u0e48\u0e32\u0e2a\u0e4c \u0e40\u0e01\u0e32\u0e30\u0e22\u0e32\u0e27\u0e19\u0e49\u0e2d\u0e22 \u0e1e\u0e31\u0e07\u0e07\u0e32<\/a> for its support and dedication to ocean conservation and for its amazing GM Marc Landgraf and his team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were able to plant 75 beautiful seagrasses and collect more than 140 seeds to grow them at Paradise Kho Yao Nursery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Seagrass can capture carbon from the atmosphere up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests and 10% of the ocean\u2019s total carbon. The world\u2019s seagrass meadows can capture 83 million metric tonnes of carbon annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average rate at which the world is losing seagrass is 1.5% per year, meaning we are losing 1 football field of seagrass every 30 minutes \"\ud83d\ude14\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\ud83d\udd16\" Seagrasses are vital to our planet’s health:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Provide food and habitat for marine organisms<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Play an essential role in the nutrient cycle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Maintain clean water quality<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* The stems and leaves slow down currents, stabilising the ocean floors and preventing erosion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Sequester carbon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some fish spend their entire life cycle in seagrass meadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When marine protected areas are fully protected, biodiversity increases by an average of 20%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
